Does anybody know where to find the theatrical cut of the 2015 Lionsgate release?

  2. Bill says:

This ZQ release is the SE Cut of the 2015 SkyNet Re-Encode (Lionsgate) and the best quality for me, so thank you very much.

The bluray releases of terminator 2 are the most variant/complicated of all, there are 3 Cut Editions (Theatrical @ 2h 17m /[email protected] 2h 33m and Extended @ 2h 56m) and 7 Releases with a total of 5 different Transfers.

2006 MPEG-2 US @18.9 Mbps Lionsgate (TH only)
2008 VC-1 UK @18.9 Mbps Optimum (SE only)
2009 VC-1 US @19.2 Mbps Lionsgate SKYNet (All 3 Cut)
2009 VC-1 UK/GR @16.4 Mbps VRS SKYNet (All 3 Cut) Same as US
    2015 MPEG-4 US @24.9 Mbps Lionsgate SkyNet Re-Encode (TH & SE only)
    2017 MPEG-4 UK @20.9 Mbps St.C/Lionsgate Remastered (TH Only)
2017 4K Ultra UK @46.9 Mbps St.C/Lionsgate Remastered (TH Only)

2015 Lionsgate is not a Remaster but Re-Encode of 2009 SKYNet Release,
2017 Remastered (1080p and 4K) is only in Theatrical and the SE/EXT Cut have scenes from 2015 release mixed in which is just bad.

In Summary depending on the Cut you prefer the best release is:
TH Edition: 2015 SkyNet Re-encode or 2017 Remastered
    SE Edition: 2015 SkyNet Re-encode
    Ext Edition: 2009 SkyNet

      *Correction on 2017 Remastered Release;
      2017 MPEG-4 UK @32.0 Mbps St.C/Lionsgate Remastered 1080p (TH Only)
      2017 MPEG-4 UK @20.9 Mbps St.C/Lionsgate Remastered 1080p (SE/EXT)
      2017 4K-Ultra UK @46.9 Mbps St.C/Lionsgate 4K-Remastered (TH Only)

Thank you very much for the explanation ! I totally agree with you, this one is the best.
I absolutely didn’t like the “Remastered” 2017 4K release. Looks like an upscale with tons of filters.

    • Saul says:

Lol why call the 2015 release a “Skynet re-encode”, as though the Skynet releases are the basis for that master? There are exactly two masters for T2 used for every BD and HD-DVD release worldwide to date…the new travesty of a 4k master used for the 2017 Euro BD/UHD release, and the older master used for literally everything before that, from the 2006 Lionsgate up through the 2015 Lionsgate, including the coveted Japanese premium editions 1.0 and 2.0.

Also, the 2015 Lionsgate isn’t necessarily the best encode of the old master; it’s pretty much a wash with the JP premium, neither better nor worse, but with those two definitely looking best overall and pretty much everything looking better than the filtered to hell US and Euro Skynet discs (as far as the old master).
And there is no 2h 56m min cut, with the extended cut running only 3 min longer than the special edition/director’s cut, but I’m assuming that’s typo.

      • Bill says:

Yes that was a typo, i meant to type 2hr 36mins for the Ext Cut.
The naming for skynet re-encode is not ideal but atleast it indicates that it is very similar and sourced the same as the previous skynet.
In terms of 2015 skynet not being the best but you agree at the same time its one of the better ones, I guess we can agree somewhat but for me its definately the best and ultimatley its personal preference. Thanks for your comments.

Dorukhan could you post the audio/video info please

  4. Redzamboni says:

Just to avoid confusion: Unrated is also the one known later as Directors Cut.
The mentioned 137 mins is the runtime of the Theatrical version.
